       AFRICANA STUDIES MINOR - STUDY AREA I                     
       FOUNDATIONS OF AFRICANA STUDIES: THEORY AND METHODOLOGY   
       Foundations examine the past and present research         
       paradigms and conceptual framework employed in Africana   
       Studies. Courses in this area address: (1) The development
       of the field in relationship to teaching and understanding
       Africana theory and methodology.(2) research methods for  
       examining and analyzing Africana Diasporic thought and    
       behavior. (3) The development of Africana civilizations   
       and histories. Courses investigate the development and    
       institutionalization of Africana Studies, the             
       multi-disciplinary nature of its methodology and theory,  
       and survey determinate disciplines, scholars, and         
       historical events that impact/ed the foci of antecedent   
       and current research initiative/s.

       populations in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas.
